Dear friends and supporters:
Sharon and I are on the road this week, so I’ve composed an audio e-newsletter addressing a crucial problem — subversive soteriology. It’s about 15 minutes long, and I hope you’ll take the time to listen.
Positing good works as a means of justification is apostate moralism. Refusing to posit good works as an inescapable fruit of justification is apostate antinomianism.
I hope next week to write on “Law and Gospel, Simply Explained.”
On the wider cultural front, it’s gratifying to observe (finally) some pushback against cancel culture, Critical Race Theory, and Cultural Marxism in both the church and politics. More on this later.
Personal
This past Ascension Sunday, we were blessed to encounter quite by accident ( = providence) the remarkable Desert Christ Park in Twentynine Palms, CA, sculptures by a godly evangelical fashioned throughout the 1950’s. We were moved to praise and tears by his work, true to the Word of God.
The Sermon on the Mount
The Woman at the Well
Praying in the Garden as his disciples sleep
The empty tomb
The ascending Lord
Thank you for your friendship and support.

The Christian life is a battle, and battles presuppose enemies. The chief enemy of Christians is Satan (and demonic spirits aligned with him [Eph. 6:12]), but a leading strategy in thwarting God’s earthly kingdom is his enlisting humans to assist him. This diabolical strategy started in Eden.
The Bible assumes that the true Faith will constantly be under attack in the sinful world and in the church. This doesn’t mean that we should invent enemies when there are none. There are enemies aplenty already.
