I’m postponing the full scheduledCultureChange e-letter since I’m immersed in research and writing six lectures or sermons for my and Sharon’s south Texas venture Feb. 13–21.
I’m eager to see all of you planning to attend this conference in the Rio Grande Valley:
Here’s a short observation for this week:
When politics dominates all public discourse (and thoughts), a society reflects the French Revolution and its oldest ideological child Marxism. Since politics is all about reengineering society, and since there is no higher objective in life, the individual and family and church and economy and arts and education and all else are tangent to and support politics. The fact that a large majority of Americans now seems to embrace the Marxist maxim "The personal is the political" reveals our Deep Marxist thinking.
Alternatively, when we are consistently talking about our Faith and families and the church and friendships and businesses and schools and music and art and books, we will have begun to escape the clutches of Marxism.
Here is my interview on Dead Men Walking addressing how our eschatology molds our entire life. Victorious eschatology leads to victorious living. Defeatist eschatology leads to defeatist living.
I plan to have the article “Gospel or Salvation? These are not identical, and assuming they are radically minimizes biblical faith” ready for next weekend.
